All of it has become way too much in my opinion. As a coach I see entirely too many sophomores-seniors so burned out and not wanting to play volleyball any more except in high school. I truly never realized the amount of volleyball being played until my own daughter started playing a few years ago. Tryouts should be regulated and not happen until after high school season(not the day after nationals or in some cases before!) and kids should get at the very least July and December completely off. Club Nationals should be over in early June and no one should be starting their tryouts until after Thanksgiving. If people were truly doing what was best for kids, they would definitely make some major adjustments. We wont do much volleyball at all in the summer for high school because I want them to rest and to miss it. They should be excited on August 5th not dreading it because they are exhausted. I also really encourage my kids to do other sports, again they need to miss volleyball!! Have time away from it so they remember why they play! It shouldn't feel like a job at 15 years old!

I dont believe it is a UIL sponsored event. Private school coaches can be members of TGCA
