Region 1- Although that have had to battle in a few of the rounds I have Colleyville over a red hot and Coming out of nowhere Cooper team. Colleyville is battle tested and I think comes out. I have Birdville coming out on top in a coin Flip over Abilene. Colleyville comes out of Region 1 battle tested and ready to make a run. Region 2- I have Reedy coming out on top over a hot and talented McKinney North team. But this one might just be a pick em. Wakeland over a very tough Lovejoy team as they have challenged themselves with some of the best. I'm taking Wakeland over Reedy coming out of this region although this might be the most up in the air region. Region 3- Fulshear has experience but I have Lake Creek playing red hot to come out on top of this one. Manvel has put together a great run and I have them over a very talented Brenham squad. Manvel come out of Region 3 over a solid Lake Creek team. Region 4- Liberty Hill is playing red hot after coming out of a huge win over Canyon. They prove to be too much for Sharyland. Rouse in my opinion is team to beat in this region now and the come out over Mcallen Memorial. Too athletic and one of the state's best setters leading the way. Looking forward to a match between Liberty Hill and Rouse. Tough to beat a team 3 times but setting again proves to be the difference in my opinion.

Clearly I'm not good at this lol as many teams showed up and proved me wrong. Here are my Picks out of each Region, with obvious bias in Region 4 lol. Region 1: Guyer with the big win over Highland Park has them locking Horns with Keller. I'm going with Keller who is on a 14 game win streak. I have Prosper beating a very talented Boswell team. Could potentially set up a meeting with district runner up Guyer. But I have Keller and Prosper in Finals and Prosper coming out ahead. Region 2- Hard to go against the Woodlands as the take on a Waxahachie team who is running hot but I'm leaning towards TWHS. Bridgeland takes on Rockwall and I go with Bridgeland with the nod in this one. The Woodlands wins the rematch over Bridgeland although first match was a great game. TWHS coming out of Region 2 Region 3 I have Katy Tompkins over Clear Springs in rematch of their Aug 5 set war. Leaning towards a red hot Dawson squad over Cinco Ranch. Katy Tompkins comes out over Dawson in a great match to head to state out of Region 3. Region 4 Ok I'm biased in this one... so gotta root for the home team lol I have Drip who is playing very well after a dominating win over Round Rock winning over SA Harlan but it won't be easy with their hard working and athletic group. I'm having a hard time with Going against Lake Travis in their match versus Laredo United who turned heads with their win over O'Connor. Is the the year South of San Antonio reps the region. I think the Size of LT overcomes the hard play of United but it would be foolish to overlook United. Based on bias I gotta take the Tigers grinding out am absolute war over the Cavs to send Dripping to State out of the region. It will not be easy....

OK I'll take a stab with the full disclaimer that in 6A region 4 I'm biased lol. Region 1- Such a strong Region and many really good teams unfortunately cancel each other out. Going with Keller over SLC based on more recent success, teams split on the year so it will be interesting. SHarp has been virtually unstoppable and had an amazing outing last time so I go Keller. Highland Park over Guyer. HP is so well rounded with one of the best liberos anchoring the defense. Solid in every position too much talent IMHO. I'm going to lead towards, Byron Nelson and Plano West to also make it to this amazing Region. Region 2- Have I mentioned how many good teams are in the State. Woodlands and Tomball is a coin flip. Tomball is getting hot at the right time but I lean towards the Woodland in this match. Midway and Waxahachie I'm leaning towards Waco Midway as they have quietly put themselves in position for the Regional tournament. Midway gets the nod Bridgeland coming off a great win over Grand Oaks get the nod over Langham Creek. Very talented squad taking out Grand Oaks who many had as a state contender. Rockwall vs. Sachse will be 3rd season appearance. Rockwall is 2-0 and we all know its hard to beat a team 3 times. Coach Jones will have the girls ready..coin flip and it landed Rockwall. Region 3- Ridge Point with tons of talent has put a great season together. Katy Tompkins and RP faced I believe first match out of the gate with Tompkins taking the match. I consider them a front runner to come out of this region. Tompkins on this one. Pearland is running hot right now and Coach Gill has done a great job with this group. Coin flip on this one and it landed Pearland...we shall see if they remain on fire. Cinco Ranch and Dawson have won their matches in straight sets over Stratford and Summer Creek, both opponents had leads and chances but couldn't capitalize. Great run by both programs. Region 4- Definitely biased in this region. Round Rock and Dripping Springs will be a great match. Round Rock now playing with a full squad as two starter have been out all year. Murphy brings a size and block they were missing as well a return to some firepower in the middle. Dripping Springs competing in 6A has been a fun ride with really high moments and big wins and moments that cause a head shake. Passing will determine the outcome and I have Drip advancing with solid passing and a few more weapons. Should be a fun one. Westwood and Lake Travis is another intriguing one as LT looks to get over the hump and get to the Regional tournament. Westwood playing without their head coach Tara Nelson were on fuego prior to her departure and haven't slowed down. Should be a real battle but I'm going with LT as they are playing at home on a coin flip(how did this happen) LT advances Harlan advancing over Warren, Harlan has been playing well all year and this looks to be a good matchup for them. O'Connor over and Laredo United team who has been lurking all season. O'Connor over United on experience against higher level volleyball all years. Well there ya go- Punch holes...have fun...it's a great time of year and a lot of talented teams.

Thoughts in the season thus far? Mine.. 6A- Highland Park , Prosper , Cy Ranch, IMHO in a class of their own(more so based on consistency). College Park doing some great things quietly have to be in the conversation. A second wave of talented and potential teams in the next tier. Bridgeland, Katy Tompkins, Keller, Flower Mound, Dripping Springs, Lake Travis Ridge Point, O'Connor to name a few. Kudos to all those challenging their squads without fear of records. 5A- Top Tier is a catch them on the right day mess. So much talent in 5A this year IMHO. Lovejoy , Canyon , Rouse , Colleyville Heritage, Barbers Hill, Friendswood....are my top tier. Haven't laid eyes on Aledo, Midlothian or Smithson Valley but feel like these are the next group. 4A- Aubrey, Hereford, Bellville, Fredericksburg seem to be at the top IMHO. 3A- Bushland and Gunter from my eyes are in a class of their own both having great success against larger school.

Good , pleasant surprises? Dripping Springs scrimmages Prestonwood and Cornerstone Christian. Cornerstone Christian is 20 deep and zero weaknesses, IMHO should be top seed in any tourney they play. High level competition. Dripping is super athletic with a very high ceiling. Some youth joining the squad did a fantastic job competing against some of the best in the state. Prestonwood is super solid all around as well, very athletic and defense is crazy good. Hard to say MB is a weak area as it is very solid without question. Spears joining the team will make them even more impressive. Don't see another TAPPS team being able to compete with them.

So thoughts on when is too much going to be realized? 3 days a week practice, many with speed and agility twice a week. Now clubs are bringing in for another night of positional training. Parents eat this up thinking its an edge. But physically and mentally when is too much going to be too much? Not to mention high school off season 5 days a week. Thoughts?

Was just doing some thinking and got into a conversation regarding the gap and length of time between regionals and the start of nationals? Why don't we take a 2-3 week break then have Nationals? It would give kids a bit of a summer/ rest/ break! Thoughts?

Realignment 2022 has a lot of movement of school to and from one classification. Most ridiculous and one that makes no sense is 6A District 26 with 9 teams in it. Just below geographically by 20 min is 6A District 27 with ONLY 6 teams. And to the South of them again by 20 min is 6A District 28 with 9 teams? Is math that hard? Couldn't they realize take Buda Johnson or Drip and move them south, then take one of the teams from District 28 and move them into 27. Then all 3 Districts would have 8....I mean wtf

Fayetteville takes on Sulphur Springs in one Semi finals and Veribest and Blum lock Horns in the other. I'm relying on Texas Volleyball insider info here and giving Fayetteville the no into the Finals to face off against Blum who edges out Veribest ( man do I love this school name!) I also have Fayetteville winning the Championship over Blum, Fayetteville has been near the top of our polls this year and I have them ending at the top!
